Orly Ruaimi began working with metal in 2007 following her BS in Finance completion, taking specialized workshops in jewelry making and metal fabrication in Washington DC. In 2010 Orly moved to San Francisco to enroll in the MFA in Metal Arts at Academy of Art University. Following her graduation she enrolled in a second MFA in Visual Arts, at the San Francisco Art Institute which she completed in May of 2017. For the rest of 2017 She was invited to do artist residencies at Otis College of Art and Design, LA, MASS MoCA, MA, New Mexico State University, NM, 18th Street Art Center, Santa Monica and HANGAR Centro de Investigação Artística, Lisbon, Portugal. She was selected as the first Visiting Artist and Scholar Resident at New Mexico State University (NMSU) and as Visiting Artist and Scholar lecturer for The University of Texas El Paso (UTEP). In 2018 she moved to Los Angeles to start her art practice with a private studio/gallery that will allow her to work on her art, teach welding, jewelry making and abstract painting.
